Looking for something to do with all of the wrapping paper scraps you have left over from wrapping gifts? Or even something to do with the wrapping paper pile left after opening gifts on Christmas? Making a Recycled Wrapping Paper Wreath is a fun way to use it! Although you can use any wrapping paper, we chose winter themed (blues, snowmen, snowflakes, etc) so we ccould display our wreath now and all through the winter. We even used left over bows to decorate our wreaths. It would also be fun to recycle Christmas cards to add to the wreaths.
Recycled Wrapping Paper Winter Wreath:
There aren’t really any hard and fast rules to making this. I pre-cut the paper to save time, but if your child is old enough to use scissors this would be a great scissor skills practice activity. Or even just tearing the paper into pieces for more motor skill practice. I also think it would fun fun to cut the paper into different shapes to learn about shapes as they are glued onto the wreath. There’s so many ways to make it fun while learning!
Materials needed to make your scrap paper wreath:
- Recycled wrapping paper cut or torn into smaller pieces
- A paper plate with the center cut out (or card stock/cardboard cut into a wreath shape)
- Glue
How to make this winter craft with kids:
First I set out the pre-cut paper plate and paper scraps and helped my boys spread glue all over the front of their plate.
And then they just went to work sticking the pieces all over how ever they wanted!
Big Bro wanted three bows on his wreath. Little Bro liked his how it was and didn’t want any bows.
And that was it! A quick and easy way to make a recycled wrapping paper winter wreath!
There are so many ways to use recycled wrapping paper. You can Paint Using Leftover Gift Wrap or even make your own Tie-Dye Gift Wrap with recycled tissue paper. How fun!
