Puffy Paint Monster Craft:
- puffy paint
- craft stick (or squirt bottle)
- googly eyes
- card stock paper
- optional extras: pipe cleaners, construction paper, ribbon, tissue paper, yarn, etc.
For the puffy paint: We like to make our own puffy paint. The recipe we used here is like this puffy paint recipe from One Little Project. This recipe uses shaving cream so I wouldn’t use it with kids who still put things in their mouth or might get it in their eyes. Instead, you may want to try this puffy paint made with salt and flour from The Artful Parent, or bottles of puffy paint from Amazon or the craft store.
To spread the paint: We used a craft stick to spread out puffy paint and drizzle it onto the paper. Putting the paint in a squirt bottle (or keeping it in the bottle it came in if using store bought), works really well for this too.
Making a Puffy Paint Monster:
We put our paint in a bowl and used a craft stick to spread it around. We also used the craft stick to drizzle some of the puffy paint to make fun designs on and around the monster. You can also use a squirt bottle for this as described above.
Next we added google eyes. We just added them to out monster while the paint was still wet. This can get a bit messy, so you can also wait until the paint is dry, and then use glue to attach the googly eyes and other parts of the monster.
Next, we added hair and a mouth using pipe cleaners!
