One of our favorite things about Spring is watching ducks. Today we have a printable duck and ducklings craft to share with you so you can make your own little paddling of ducks.

By the way, did you know that the collective noun used to refer to a group of ducks depends on whether they are in flight, on the ground or in water? You may know that ducks in flight are called a flock. Thanks to #creativecollectivenouns, I learned that Ducks on the ground are called a badling, but ducks on water are called a raft, team, or paddling.
So here we have a paddling of ducks!
For another creative collective noun crafts, check out the MOST adorable Bask of Crocodiles craft by ZingZingTree. Moms & Crafters folded a beautiful Parliament of Owls with a Paper Owl Craft. I’m pretty obsessed with them!
How to make a Folded Paper Duck:
There are so many ways to decorate these ducks. Use different colors to make different types. Use browns and greens to make Mallard ducks. Or use craft feathers to make them fluffy and feathery.
Materials:
- Template: Folded Paper Duck and/or Folded Paper Ducklings printed on card stock
- Crayons, markers, or paint.
- Googly eyes
- Optional decorations: shredded paper, tissue paper, feathers, etc.
- Optional: clothes pines or paper clips to help hold the glue.
How to make Mommy Duck:
First, print out the the Folded Paper Duck template, color the duck, and cut it out.
Fold the template along the dotted lines in the center to make two folds.
Put glue on the backside of head, beak, and tail (do not glue the main body portion).
Pinch the head, tail and beak together. It may be helpful to use clothes pins or paper clips to help the glue adhere while you decorate the rest of the duck.
If you’d like to decorate the duck, use glue to add shredded paper, craft feathers, tissue paper, etc.
We used a google eye on each side as well.
To make the Ducklings:
Print and color the Folded Paper Ducklings template. Cut along the solid lines.
Fold along the dotted lines. Each duckling will have two folds.
Use glue on the head, beak, and tail. and pinch the sides together. Do not glue the main body potion.
Now you have your little Ducklings!
This time, we did not decorate them like we did with the mommy duck, and used a crayon to draw the eyes. We liked the way they looked simply colored.
What kind of ducks will you make?
